Model:

A creative soul that I got to meet through this photowalk. He was suggested by Kürsat and neither of us had a shooting with him, so we were both nervous - turned out it was for no reason. He was so comfortable working with and contributed a lot to our vision.

My beautiful, beautiful friend. We both met through working at 893 Ryotei (http://893ryotei.de/) and it is such a blessing for me. She is like a big sister who encourages me in every creative situation, such as giving me input and showing me different creatives. For me she shines in every situation, but she is just not aware of it. I was really grateful that she entrusted me catching her with my pov since she usually isn't comfortable putting herself in front of a lense. ~ Gomawo

Featuring photographer:

What can I say about this man.. He is just incredibly hardworking and humble. There is no easier man to work with creative wise. The main idea for this shooting came from him.

He introduced me to a picture from by Suda Masaki and Komatsu Nana from SOUP magazine (http://suda-masaki.com/scan/soup-dec-2016/), and a Numero Cover which immensely inspired this shooting.

Thoughts

It was actually the first time, that the main inspiration didn't come from me. So the Idea got pitched by Kürsat and I had a frame to work upon. Trying to figure out what made the Idea so inspirational and figuring uniqueness in a way, was really challenging.

What do I want to be different?

I tried to play with the energies that came from the couples. So instead of having too much skinship and the feeling of comfort I played with the definition of the relationship both of them had:

Do they like each other?

Are they fighting?

What feels natural?

Are they even a couple?

So instead of thinking they are obviously having a comfortable relationship -I worked with the feeling of discomfort, uneasiness and tension. Putting the perceiver into a state of thinking twice about them being a couple or not.

Again at this point, Thank you to Eun Young, Esha and Kürsat for joining the 4th Photowalk.

It was as always a huge pleasure.

~ Enjoy watching

Thoughts

Seeing the results, I am always mesmerized by the looks of expired film used with my Konica point and shoot. Minimal effort and great looks.

In depths grain with a PORTRA 400 and sharpness isn't challengeable with a DSLR as one can see in the galleries, but still wonderful results.

Topic Switch: Trust

A different thing that I noticed which comes with organizing such shoots is trust. If you know the people to a certain depths, who are involved trust is just so important. Them entrusting me on the vision and concept but also me trusting them on contributing to the style that I chose. If both are given, working can just be so comfortable and progressing, that I am always astonished by how wonderful people I am surrounded.

E.g. I really underestimated how working with contract models isn't as easy when it is a non-budget creative work. 5 out of 5 couldn't make it for this and also for future projects - but I hope that some day my film photowalks get bigger and more recognized, so its easier to connect.
